Our Staff
The staff at Wellspring Therapy is comprised of many highly trained and educated specialists.
- Most of our therapists have graduate degrees; some have doctoral degrees.
- Special credentials: Certified Hand Therapist (CHT) and Orthopedic Certified Specialist (OCS).
- Through continuing education, our therapists are kept up to date with the newest techniques and therapeutic innovation. Many of them have extensive training in manual therapy.
- All therapists are active in national and state Occupational, Physical and Hand Therapy associations.
- We speak English, Spanish, Armenian, Chinese, Tagalog and Korean.

Occupational Therapist
For over 20 years, Laura has been practicing as an occupational therapist and certified hand therapist. Since receiving her Master of Arts and Master of Occupational Therapy degrees, she has worked extensively in hand rehabilitation. In 1991, she successfully passed the first national board examination and was among the charter group of practitioners to be designated as a Certified Hand Therapist. She is a graduate of the Arthritis Foundation Health Professional Fellowship Program and past president of the Southern California Hand Special Interest Group (three consecutive terms). In addition to her extensive training and clinical experience, Laura has served as an ergonomic education consultant and has conducted training for PacifiCare, Lucky Grocery Stores, Unihealth Corporation, the Los Angeles Repetitive Strain Injury Support Group, and the Riverside Eastern Municipal Water District. She has also taught prevention of carpal tunnel syndrome at Glendale Community College. In 2005, Laura was honored by the California State Legislature and received the “Women in Business Award” for her accomplishments in business and her service to the community.
Laura played competitive basketball while growing up in Shanghai, and is now an enthusiastic tennis player. She loves classical music and opera, and has served on a local theater board. Laura is married to Dr. Roger D. Stewart, a Senior Associate Dean at USC College , and has two beautiful children.

John Obsenares, PT, OCS
Physical Therapist
John graduated Cum Laude from California State University, Long Beach. He became interested in the physical therapy field in high school when he began volunteering at the Transitional Care Unit at Henry Mayo Hospital. John enjoys practicing physical therapy because it gives him an opportunity to make significant changes in people's lives.
Since college John has lived by the words of Frederick Douglass, "Without struggle there will be no progress." He is now studying to become a Certified Functional Manual Therapist at the Institute of Physical Art, Inc. He has also completed the full Maitland seminar series, which makes him eligible to sit for the certification for Certified Orthopedic Manual Therapist through the Maitland-Australian Physiotherapy Seminars. In the near future he plans to obtain his Doctorate degree in Physical Therapy.
John enjoys spending time with his family and friends, traveling to see other countries and learning about other cultures, watching sports and movies, golfing, snowboarding, and training to run in marathons.
